Ludwigia plant comes in a variety of forms that differ in leaf shape and color. Ludwigia Dark Red is a round-leaved form with leaves that come in colors, ranging from olive green to dark red. The plant’s colors will be heavily influenced by the light intensity and fertilization.  

Care & Maintenance for Ludwigia Dark Red

Ludwigia Dark Red is a highly adaptable aquarium plant. If provided with good conditions, it will grow fast and reach the water surface in the aquarium. As it reaches the surfaces, the leaves will become smaller and the stems may begin to grow horizontally, creating an attractive overhead view and providing hiding places for small fish or fry.

• Tank Placement: Midground - Background

In order to keep the plant in its best shape, regular pruning with sharp aquascaping scissors may be required. Neither fertilization nor specialized substrate is required but the plant will grow better and faster if both are provided. Ludwigia Dark Red looks best when planted in groups in the background areas of the aquarium.
