Zebra Danio Purple GloFish

Blue Zebra Danio GloFish® is a brilliantly colored aquarium fish. It displays purple and silvery stripes running through the entire length of its body. GloFish® fish are born with their bright fluorescent colors, inheriting them from their parents. Their brilliant colors are NOT the result of any injections of dyes or otherwise. They require the same level of care as any other community fish.

Care Guide for Zebra Danio

Zebra Danio, Danio rerio, are small fish belonging to the family Cyprinidae. They are found in Eastern India and have been a staple of the aquarium hobby for decades. They are by far the most popular of all the danios. In nature, these fish are often found swimming in large groups among aquatic plants where they seek shelter from predators. They will tolerate a wide range of aquarium conditions and are particularly suited for community tanks because of their small size and peaceful temperament. They should be kept in groups of at least six individuals and preferably more.

Max Size:   1.5 inches
Water:   72 - 82 F; pH 6.5 - 7.5
Difficulty:   Easy
Living Zone:   Middle
Temperament:   Peaceful and Social

They will accept most foods, including flakes and small pellets. The ideal aquarium for the Zebra Danio will have open spaces surrounded by plants. The addition of driftwood to the aquascape would also be beneficial. Since they are rather small, they do not require large aquariums to make them happy. Danios are schooling fish and they look spectacular and will do best in larger groups. They are extremely active and will provide constant movement and entertainment in the aquarium. Danios are egg-scattering species of fish and the best breeding results are achieved by allowing the fish to choose their mates. Hatching takes approximately two days.

They can be kept with many other peaceful fishes, including discus, tetras, dwarf cichlids, corydoras catfish, plecos, and many other community fish. They will readily accept a variety of foods, including flakes and small pellets.
