Description

Cabomba Caroliniana

Cabomba is a lovely plant native to warmer parts of the Americas. It is a very popular aquatic plant and has been used in aquariums for decades. It has beautiful feathery green leaves, which are divided into narrow segments. It is a densely growing plant that makes for a great-looking background in a planted aquarium. It can also be planted closer to the front of the tank and easily trimmed as needed. The plant looks its best if stems are planted individually in groups.

Caring for Cabomba

The plant likes good lighting and clean water which will help to keep its feathery leaves clean of debris. Under good growing conditions, this plant will show a range of colors from silvery green to green to even brownish-red. It is an easy plant to care for and grow if provided with adequate care.

  • Minimum Lighting Required: Medium
  • Temperature Range:  72-82° F
  • Tank Placement: Midground-Background

Great plant! A little darker then the image but I’m not sure if that’s due to temperature or other factors. Plant comes as individual strands with no roots, which was different from what I was expecting but not unwelcome! Had quite a bit of foliage loss but they still look great! Thanks:D

    Large specimens
Posted by Andrew Heritier on 8 Apr 2021

Both bunches arrived in very poor condition. They were quite large and probably very beautiful when they were packaged. Unfortunately, they were brown and slimy by the time they arrived on my front door. I let them soak for awhile and all but two 3” stalks disintegrated in a few hours. Quite a shame. --Modern Aquarium Reply-- Our apologies for the mishap in shipping. Please contact out customer service so we can make this right. Thank you

    Beautiful hints of purple

I have a weakness for Cabomba with purple hue. It arrived with a good bit of color. I’m hoping the conditions in my tank will allow it to stay that way!

    Love it!

I bought this Cabomba for my 40g blackwater tank, it has already grown about 4" in less than a week! Tons of bushy new growth. I just stuck the stems in my sand substrate and they took off! So pretty...hopefully they continue to grow well!
