Description
Aqualife Red Green Cabomba, 8″ | Artificial Plastic Aquarium Plant
Bring fine texture, natural-looking movement, and red-green contrast to your aquarium with the Aqualife Red Green Cabomba, 8″. Inspired by the feathery appearance of live Cabomba, this artificial aquarium plant adds a soft, delicate plant look to freshwater or decorative aquarium setups without the care requirements of real plants.
Part of Fluval’s Aqualife plant series, this replica plant is designed with soft, flexible foliage and fade-resistant colors that help maintain an attractive planted appearance. Its narrow, fan-like leaves sway gently with the aquarium current, creating a more realistic underwater display while giving fish additional cover to swim through, explore, and rest around.
Artificial Aquarium Plant Overview
The Aqualife Red Green Cabomba is a great option for aquarists who want the look of lush aquatic plant growth without needing strong lighting, fertilizers, CO₂, nutrient-rich substrate, or regular trimming. Unlike live plants, artificial aquarium plants keep their shape and color without being affected by pH, KH, GH, nutrient levels, or other water parameters.
At 8 inches tall, this artificial Cabomba works well as a midground plant, side accent, or decorative filler in smaller and medium-sized aquariums. The mix of green foliage with red-toned stems and accents adds depth and contrast, making it easy to pair with darker substrate, aquarium rocks, driftwood, and other artificial or live plants.
Key Features
This artificial aquarium plant is designed to provide fine plant texture and realistic color while remaining simple to maintain.
- Fish-safe materials: Made from non-toxic materials suitable for aquarium use.
- Red Green Cabomba-style appearance: Fine, feathery leaves help recreate the delicate look of live Cabomba.
- Soft, supple texture: Flexible foliage moves naturally with the water for a more realistic effect.
- Fade-resistant natural colors: Red and green tones help maintain a vibrant aquarium display.
- Low maintenance: No pruning, fertilizers, CO₂, substrate, or special lighting required.
- Easy to clean: Debris or algae can be gently rubbed away by hand or rinsed during routine maintenance.
- Durable construction: Built for regular aquarium use while maintaining its shape and appearance.
- Water-parameter friendly: Will not affect pH, KH, GH, or overall aquarium water chemistry.
- 8-inch height: Ideal for midground placement, side coverage, or adding soft texture to smaller aquascapes.
This makes the Aqualife Red Green Cabomba a practical choice for hobbyists who want a delicate planted look without the upkeep of live Cabomba.
Aquascaping with Artificial Plants
Artificial plastic plants are a smart way to add instant greenery and structure to aquariums, especially in setups with fish that dig, uproot plants, or nibble on delicate leaves. The fine texture of the Aqualife Red Green Cabomba can help soften open areas, create visual cover, and make the aquarium feel more comfortable for fish.
Artificial plants can also be used alongside real aquarium plants. Mixing live and artificial plants is a great way to create a fuller aquascape while keeping care requirements more manageable. Because high-quality artificial plants are designed with realistic color, texture, and movement, they can blend naturally into planted layouts and become difficult to distinguish from live plants once arranged in the aquarium.
For a balanced layout, place this 8-inch Cabomba-style plant in the midground, near the sides, or around rocks and driftwood where its feathery leaves can add softness and movement. Pair it with broader-leaf plants, taller background plants, natural gravel, or driftwood to create contrast and a more layered aquascape.
Care & Maintenance
Artificial aquarium plants require very little maintenance. During water changes, check the leaves and base for algae, debris, or trapped waste. Light buildup can usually be removed by gently rubbing the surface with your fingers or using a soft aquarium-safe brush.
Many aquariums with cleanup crews such as plecos, shrimp, snails, and other algae-eating species can help keep artificial plants looking cleaner by grazing on algae and biofilm that accumulate on their surfaces. Artificial plants can also provide additional shelter, grazing areas, and resting spots that many aquarium inhabitants enjoy using as part of their environment.
For a deeper cleaning, remove the plant from the aquarium and rinse it with clean water. Do not use soaps, detergents, household cleaners, or chemical sprays, as these can be harmful to fish and aquarium life.

CABOMBA, 8"
Posted by Angela Windle on 28 Jul 2022This artificial plant does have a natural look to it, and it feels soft unlike a lot of artificial plants. It blends in well with my real plants, and I feel it will offer fry a place to hide should they venture lower in the aquarium. They hide mostly in the hornwort.
