Dwarf Water Onion | Potted
Dwarf Water Onion originates in South America. It is a bulbous plant that features green, slender, almost grass-like, leaves that grow from a bulb at its base. Its common name is derived from its appearance as it resembles a common onion plant. The plant grows relatively compact and typically grows approximately 6 to 12 inches tall.
How to Care for Dwarf Water Onion
Dwarf Water Onion prefers nutrient-rich substrate and good light. It can be tricky to plant. When planting, be careful not to bury the bulb completely into the substrate. The top of the bulb should be just visible. Once established, the plant is relatively easy to care for.
Minimum Lighting Required: Moderate
Tank Placement: Midground-Background
Dwarf Water Onion is most suitable for the midground areas or the back areas of smaller aquariums. When planted in groups, the slender leaves swaying in the water create an appearance of grassy savanna fields and the lighter color bulbs provide additional visual interest.
Dwarf Water Onion is also available bare root.
