Spider Wood, also variously referred to as Azalea Roots, Rhododendron Roots, Indian Spider Wood, or Red Spider Wood, originates from forests or shrublands of North America and Asia. It is one of the most popular aquascaping driftwoods in the hobby due to its unique spindly shape and brown to almost reddish coloration. The Spider Wood's unusual and elongated root formations give this aquarium wood its name because they resemble the legs of a spider. This aquarium driftwood looks great individually and arranged together in groups. Like other driftwood and botanicals, Spider Wood will release beneficial tannins into the water. Spider Wood will not immediately sink in the water so you will have to weigh it down with rocks. Alternatively, you can either pre-soak it for a few days so that it becomes waterlogged or put it in boiling water for several minutes to speed up the process.
