Italian Vallisneria Spiralis | Set of Two

Vallisneria Spiralis, also known as straight Vallisneria, is one of the best known and most popular aquatic plants in the hobby. The plant produces lovely ribbon-like leaves which may grow up to 24 inches in length.

Care Guide for Italian Vallisneria Spiralis

Vallisneria Spiralis is very adaptable and can be kept in a wide range of aquarium conditions, including coldwater aquariums. It's a good plant for beginners and new setups because of its rapid growth. The plant does particularly well in hard water, and it does not require strong light.

  • Minimum Lighting Required: Moderate
  • Temperature Range: 70-82°F
  • Tank Placement: Background

Because Vallisneria can grow tall, the best placement of V. Spiralis in your aquarium is in the background or around the corners/edges of the aquarium. If provided with good conditions, this plant is a fast grower and will produce many new plants from runners.

    Beautiful long plant

Great looking plant that already had roots! Only reason I give a four star is because two out of the six I got melted and died. Beside that, greats plants and i will still continue to order from modern aquarium

    Maintain light

Posted by john russo on 6 Aug 2021

I found these are very sensitive to light. Lost my light for a few days and the plant appeared to die quickly, The others I bought faired much better. I removed all of the Vallisneria and found each had tiny leaves next to the roots. I replanted them, and will wait for their return. Healthy, stubborn plants.

    High quality

These, along with some others I bought, are super high quality. Placed them in my tank and have prospered after only a week. I’m using a Fluval 3.0 light without CO2.

    Healthy plants.

Compared to the other plants I purchased on this order, I was a bit disappointed in the quantity of the plants provided. Thought it was a little skimpy.

Plants arrive quickly and in great health and pest free. Now if my fish would just stop pulling them up before they have time to really root themselves in my gravel!

    Tall Val

This might be the tallest and healthiest Val I’ve received in an online order. I received it a week ago and it’s still looking gorgeous.

    Vallisneria spiralis

I am using these as background for my tank. They arrived somewhat brown/melted and quite frankly that's the only reason for 4 stars. They arrived about 5-6 inches in length and I already have new growth after a week in the tank.
