Description

Italian Vallisneria Spiralis

Vallisneria Spiralis, also known as straight Vallisneria, is one of the best known and most popular aquatic plants in the hobby. The plant produces lovely ribbon-like leaves which may grow up to 24 inches in length.

Care Guide for Italian Vallisneria Spiralis

Vallisneria Spiralis is very adaptable and can be kept in a wide range of aquarium conditions, including coldwater aquariums. It's a good plant for beginners and new setups because of its rapid growth. The plant does particularly well in hard water, and it does not require strong light.

  • Minimum Lighting Required: Moderate
  • Temperature Range: 70-82°F
  • Tank Placement: Background

Because Vallisneria can grow tall, the best placement of V. Spiralis in your aquarium is in the background or around the corners/edges of the aquarium. If provided with good conditions, this plant is a fast grower and will produce many new plants from runners.

Some came bad but otherwise ok
Posted by Daniel Best on 2 Apr 2024

I didn't realize that these plants would be shipped from Florida. I saw the store was in NY so I thought there would be less time in the shipping box and the plants might show up better looking. Unfortunately I was wrong. Anyway, on to the plants. They came with a few bad leaves but I trimmed them, washed them and put planted them in my tank. We'll see how well they grow.

Nice leaves on this Val but roots had turned brown. Val is pretty hardy. So I'm sure it will regenerate
