Description

Tiger Lotus (Nymphaea Lotus)

Tiger Lotus, also known by its scientific name as Nymphaea Lotus, originates from East Africa and Southeast Asia. The leaves of this plant will grow up to 8 inches long and, if not pruned, will quickly reach the surface of the water where they will float, providing shade in the aquarium and making fish feel more secure. The leaves can come in a variety of shades and colors from green to dark red, with patches of purple or red-brown. Tiger Lotus can be kept compact and submerged by regularly cutting leaves racing up to the top of the aquarium and by providing good lighting. The roots of the plant will spread quickly anchoring the plant securely in the substrate, allowing them to draw nutrients from it.

Care Guide For Tiger Lotus

Tiger Lotus will appreciate good light and fertilization. Provided with good conditions, this tropical lily will grow fast and start quickly producing several leaves sometimes in the manner of just a few days.

  • Minimum Lighting Required: Moderate

Received two bulbs as part of a plant package. They started to sprout after about a week. Color is a deep red in both plants. Excited to see how they look once they get some height.

To start I bought into 2 small tiger lotus not know they were going to be so tiny. I still planted them in my tank to see how long it would be before they start to grow. In 4 days the plant tripled in size. I can't wait till it's full grown. Thanks Modern Aquarium.

I bought 6 Tiger Lotus bulbs, and all came in firm, and all sprouted within a week! So far growth is healthy, and the colors are already showing themselves.
