Anubias Nana originates from West Africa. It is one of the smaller Anubias species which makes it an ideal plant for foreground or midground areas in the aquarium. The plant produces dark green, oval leaves that are robust both in appearance and physically. It is a hardy plant suitable for a wide range of aquarium conditions and beginner aquarium plant enthusiasts.
Care & Maintenance for Anubias Nana
Anubias Nana is a highly adaptable plant and will do very well in most aquariums. The plant will produce side shoots and grow horizontally, producing new stems and leaves from the rhizome. It does not require any special substrate and, in fact, its main root or rhizome should never be buried in substrate.
- Minimum Lighting Required: low
- Temperature Range: 72-82°F
- Tank Placement: Foreground-Midground
Anubias Nana will grow well, albeit slower, even under low light. It will grow more compact and produce leaves more quickly under better lighting. Anubias can be planted in substrate as long as the rhizome is not buried in the substrate. They can be attached to hard surfaces such as rocks, driftwood and other aquarium decorations. They look very attractive when attached to rocks and driftwood, making the home aquarium look more natural and allowing fish to exhibit their natural behavior.
Anubias are also available in other forms, including Anubias Congensis, Anubias Barteri, grown on rocks and driftwood.

Really nice plant with good roots!
My anubias nana is perfect for the foreground of my tank. It was extremely easy to place into my substrate as the stems were all attached to a central root. None of the leaves melted, and a month later the plant is still thriving. I haven't noticed the plant getting any bigger, but I love the look of it in my tank! Very easy to take care of and definitely recommend for beginners!
I received this plant in excellent condition. I attached it to my driftwood and it is thriving. Would definitely purchase again!
