Chain Sword Broad Leaf (Echinodorus Quadricostatus)

Echinodorus Quadricostatus, commonly known as Chain Sword Broad Leaf or Dwarf Swordplant, originates from Brazil.  This short plant is ideal for use in the foreground.  Provided with good conditions, lighting, and rich substrate or proper fertilization, Chain Sword will grow quickly spreading across the substrate through runners.

Care & Maintenance

The plant will adapt and grow differently depending on the intensity of lighting. While not required, this plant will appreciate fertilization and, if you notice yellowing leaves, add iron fertilizer such as this Liquid Iron Plant Fertilizer by Microbe-Lift. Chain Sword propagates from runners and, unlike its other cousins from the Echinodorus or Sword family of plants, remains small and compact. Under ideal conditions, it will propagate fast and cover the foreground of the aquarium, giving it a lawn-like effect.
