Description

Anubias Hastifolia | Potted

Anubias Hastifolia originates in tropical regions of West Africa. It produces uniquely shaped leaves that are elongated and spear-like with a pointed tip. The leaves are typically dark green, sturdy, and tough. The plant usually forms a dense rosette of leaves, providing a visually interesting element to an aquascape.

How to Care for Anubias Hastifolia

Anubias Hastifolia is easy to care for. The plant is hardy and adaptable. It will do well in most aquariums, including those housing large and plant-eating fish as its leathery leaves are tough and sturdy. Anubias Hastifolia does not require strong light and will tolerate even low-light conditions. It is a low-maintenance plant that usually does not need supplemental fertilization. It is a suitable plant for beginners.

  • Minimum Lighting Required: Low - Moderate
  • Temperature Range: 68-85°F
  • Tank Placement: Midground - Background

Anubias Hastifolia can grow 8 to 12 inches under good conditions. For this reason, it is a great plant for the background areas of the aquarium. Its size and uniquely shaped leaves make this plant an ideal candidate for a centerpiece or focal plant in the aquarium. Anubias Hastifolia can be planted in the substrate but its rhizome (the thick horizontal root) should not be buried under the substrate.

Anubias Hastifolia is also available bare root.

Modern Aquarium offers many other Anubias of various shapes and sizes including, Anubias Nana, Anubias Congensis, and Anubias Minima, to mention just a few.
